The Motrice

A cheerful and familiar atmosphere: this is what you will find in our Motrice - restaurant, café and bar. Enjoy a cup of coffee or a good glass of wine with your friends... Or try one of the culinary delights that our cook Ornella prepares for you with much love.

For many years, the Motrice has also been a popular meeting place for artists: our guests have included personalities such as Wolfgang Hildesheimer, Sonja and Jan Wisse, Rudolf Blaser and Not Bott.

We will be pleased to spoil you in our cozy restaurant (28 seats), whose vaulted ceiling is reminiscent of the shape of an old locomotive of the Bernina railroad, or in the dining room Rudolf Blaser (32 seats). The ceiling paintings are by the Bernese-born artist who lived in Poschiavo for over 30 years. If you want a smaller setting, we recommend our Saletta Nostalgia (14 seats), where the walls and windows of the old Motrice are preserved.

Numerous original paintings and historical photos from the Puschlav adorn the walls of the Motrice.

Our premises are ideal for banquets, club parties, lunches for groups and meetings. In summer we are happy to serve our guests outside; our forecourt is right next to the Puschlaver Museum and offers a beautiful view of the Borgo of Poschiavo and our local mountain Sassalbo.

Ornella Isepponi, cook and landlady, chooses with the greatest care the ingredients for the preparation of her specialties. Every day she buys fresh products from her trusted suppliers in Puschlaver. Her passion is her own garden: here she grows the vegetables and lettuce for her guests, but also the flowers for the table decorations.
