Métairie d'Aarberg (Villiers)

Metairie d'Aarberg is located on the Chasseral ridge in the direction of Chaumont.

In brief:

• Altitude 1267m
• Accessible by foot, mountain bike, horse and car
• Built around 1550 by the Aarberg bourgeoisie

In 1851, the latter decided to sell the farm to the commune of Villiers, on condition that the name of Aarberg be retained, which was accepted.

In 2010, thanks to Swiss Mountain Aid, a new solar power plant was put into operation, for greater autonomy in green energy.

In summer, around seven heifers belonging to Villiers farmers are summered on the adjacent pastures.

The farm is officially open from May 1 to October 31, and occasionally in April, weather permitting.
