Jungo Cheese AG (St. Ursen)

The cheese dairy Struss is located in the beautiful Sense district in the canton of Fribourg and exists already over one hundred and ten years. Since 1986, master cheesemaker Franz Jungo and his wife Liliane Jungo have successfully and enthusiastically managed the cheese dairy as milk buyers at the cheese cooperative Struss & St.Ursen. For some time now, their two sons Julien and Alain Jungo have also been working in the family business and together they process and refine about 2.5 million kg of milk per year into cave-aged cheese specialties.

Among these, Le Gruyère AOP is in first place, closely followed by Vacherin Fribourgeois AOP and the cheese specialties in the semi-hard cheese range.

It is very important to the family business to keep the added value in the region. Fair milk prices are paid and, of course, quality supplements are paid for good quality milk, so that our products receive the best conditions. With our know-how and our passion we give our products the final touch.

Since July 1, 2018, Jungo Cheese AG have taken over the Büel cheese dairy in Plaffeien.

Julien Jungo is the new milk buyer and works energetically every day with his four-man team to produce and refine first-class Gruyere AOP and Bio Gruyere AOP from the milk supplied until they are ready for consumption.

In addition to our own cheese store, a 24-hour cheese vending machine is also available directly at the Büel cheese dairy to satisfy your demand for cold and warm cheese specialties.

All our products are available in our own cheese store and can be sent to your home by mail on request. Our services are just right for small parties, birthdays, weddings and other occasions. We have something for everyone, whether you are in the mood for hot or cold cheese.
