Restaurant Hirschen (Rapperswil BE)

In the cellar of today's "Hirschen" the year 1609 is carved into the sandstone in the vault.
Around the year 1600, the main traffic route, the so-called Römerstrasse, led through the present-day municipality of Rapperswil BE. This route also served as a post road until about 1750. In the time after 1600, the "Pinte "** muleteers' inn with an attached farm was built in Frauchwil.

In 1717, the mayor and the town council of the city of Bern grant H. Häni the right to own the "Pinte" in Frauchwil.

After the generations of Häni, a daughter of Häni marries a man from Frauchwil named Schlup. In 1902, Anna Schlup, daughter of the third generation Schlup, marries Rudolf Furer from Diessbach.

In 1935 the innkeeper's daughter Erika Furer married the farmer Ernst Bangerter from Wengi b. Büren.
They ran the business in the first generation Bangerter from 1943 - 1973. Their son Andreas Bangerter with his wife Verena, née Hofmann ran the business in the second generation from 1973 - 1994. After the older son Fritz Bangerter as a farmer built a new barn with stable in 1994 and moved out, Andreas Bangerter took over the restaurant.

Today, Andreas Bangerter-Möri is head chef and runs the business with his wife Elisabeth in the third generation Bangerter.

In 1995 they renovate and rebuild the farmhouse into a homey dining-restaurant.
A beautiful, quiet garden restaurant with barbecue is also created.
